LeBron James Enters Free Agency

On Friday NBA All-Star LeBron James opted out of his $35.6 million player option with the Cleveland Cavaliers and entered free agency.  Many NBA analysts believe the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and Houston Rockets to be front runners for his services next season.

This could be the second time LeBron James leaves the Cavaliers. In 2010 ‘The Decision’ landed James in Miami with the Heat where he won two NBA Championships and two Finals MVP awards.

Although the Cavaliers can still offer James the most money (approx. $50 million more), most NBA analysts speculate James will leave Cleveland for a team with a better chance at winning a title.

After playing all 82 games and average 27.5 points in his 14th season, LeBron James placed second in this year’s NBA MVP race falling to Houston’s James Harden. James also fell short of winning his fourth NBA championship after the Cavaliers were swept by the Warriors in the 2018 NBA Finals.
